To provide insight into what the Start Local team is looking for in guests on our show, we are sharing our considerations when evaluating potential guests. These are intended as guidelines and not as strict rules.
General Considerations
Our podcast is committed to reflecting Chester County as it exists today, in all its people and areas. We value sharing the microphone with leaders who reflect the diversity of our county.
- Invited guests are intended as a reflection of the diverse community in and around Chester County. We aim to reflect the community as it is through the complement of guests on the show over a period of time.
- The business or nonprofit must provide services or products in or around Chester County – although the organization does not to be headquartered in or around Chester County. (The expectation is that most organizations will be based here, but that is not an absolute requirement.)
About the Guest
- A business or nonprofit leader: does not need to be C-Suite or equivalent, but be in a senior position.
- Lives, works, or is active in the local area.
- Can be a elected official (at any level of government) whose electoral district includes at least part of Chester County, Pennsylvania.
- Cannot promote political campaigns.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to giving back or inward investment in the local community.
About the Business or Nonprofit
- The company or nonprofit should be community-focused, i.e., giving back to the local area in some meaningful and unique way.
- The company or nonprofit should be beyond the startup or initial launch phase of its existence.
- Can be of any size: we welcome organizations as large as Fortune 100 companies to small, 3-4 people companies or charities, and solo business owners.
Crafting a Conversation of Value
As we are deeply focused on creating valuable conversations for our audience, we are offering guidelines about what we like to see in our podcast episodes.
- Drawing on their own experience and expertise, the guest should provide insight and knowledge that is relevant, timely, and applicable to other leaders regardless of their sector.
- The focus of our conversation can be (and likely will be) around programs and work but cannot be centered on a sales, marketing, or fundraising campaign. (Mention can be made of a campaign, but the campaign cannot be the focus of the conversation.)
Apply to Be on the Show
We invite you to submit your request to be interviewed via the form below. You can also suggest that we interview someone else in your organization.
Please note that we have a full content calendar (and full-time work), so not all applications will receive a response, even though we appreciate your time and are grateful for new community connections.
